Buy a Meal Plan

There are several ways to purchase Meal Plans depending on if you are a student or a member of staff. Meal Plans are automatically added to your account and can be spent using your Campus Card. You can check your balance at gold.reading.ac.uk

Student Meal Plans via Accommodation

Wantage, Windsor and Dunsden Crescent Hall Rooms include Platinum. This will be added to your account automatically once you accept a room offer and you do not need to do anything.

St. Patrick’s Hall include Gold and you do not need to do anything else, unless you wish to upgrade, which can be done by contacting the  Accommodation Office. The St. Patrick’s Hall Room + Gold Meal Plan is our best value option.

All Other Hall Rooms you can select Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze with your room choices during the application process. You may ask for this to be added later on by the  Accommodation Office if you have already applied.

Please remember Meal Plans purchased with a Hall Room are contracted for the duration of your Tenancy. Alternatively, if you can purchase directly from us.

Payments for Meal Plans contracted with a Hall Room, follow the Halls Payment Plan which as a guide is 40% in October, 40% in January and 20% in April. This may vary according to your circumstances.

Student Meal Plans

Any student can purchase a Meal Plan directly from us, at any time during the term. Meal Plans for the new academic year go on sale at the beginning of August each year. The University recommend all first year students have one of these Meal Plans. Payment is via Credit, Debit or PayPal. PayPal may independently offer you the option of payment in instalments. This is not operated by the University but can be helpful. You’ll need your student or applicant number.

Student Block Plans

Block Plan Meal Swipes are available to Students as either 30 or 50 Swipes and are recommended for returning students or for those needing additional meals in Vacation Periods. Meal Swipes are valid until the end of the Academic Year (31st July).
