Coronavirus (COVID-19) – What you need to know

The health and safety of our customers, as well as that of our staff and students, is of great importance to the University of Reading. Therefore, owing to the exceptional circumstance arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and in line with the Government’s guidelines on social distancing, we have taken the decision to close or reduce a number of our services and facilities until further notice.

Reading Campuses

Restaurants, bars & cafes

All University restaurants, bars and cafés (including the Library café) are now closed until government advice changes. Service will be available for students who have meal plans and others remaining on campus at:

  • Park Eat (including Park Market) on Whiteknights campus from 12.00pm to 6.30pm Monday to Sunday.

Internal delivered catering

All delivered catering has been cancelled from Monday 23rd March 2020 until further notice. We are working extremely hard to minimise disruption, please note we will not be processing any internal charges for any cancelled bookings.

Conferences & Events

We will not be continuing with any events on Campus from Thursday 19th March until further notice.

However, we are not proposing to cancel any events at this stage and would like to work with you to postpone and re-book your Event for a later date.

Cedars Hotel

Cedars Hotel will be closed from 10am on Friday 20th March 2020 until further notice. This means that we are cancelling your booking with us. We are sorry that it has been necessary to take this step and we will be refunding as quickly as possible any bookings where we have taken payment prior to arrival.

Greenlands Campus – Henley Business School

Hotel & Conference Centre

Greenlands Hotel and Conference Centre will be closed from 10am on Friday 20th March 2020 until further notice. This means for hotel accommodation we will have to cancel existing bookings. We are sorry that it has been necessary to take this step and we will be contacting customers with existing bookings to arrange refunds in the coming days. For our conference centre we are not proposing to cancel any bookings/events at this stage, we will be working with customers to postpone and re-book events for a later date. We apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause.

Facilities

Greenlands Campus facilities including the catering provisions from the Heyworth Restaurant, Pavilion Lunch Service, and Bar; along with other general facilities including the Greenlands Library, Quiet Study Space, and common areas will be closed from 17.00 on Friday 20th March until government advice changes.

The Business School will continue to run programmes and courses where possible, however these will be conducted online rather than on site. For more information about your course or programme please contact the programme admin team.
